Everyone knows that a FSBO is a perfect target for real estate agent
to market to. After all, we know one thing about them that makes
them shine above all other people in our area, We KNOW They
Want To Sell Their Home!
At least, they aren’t a cold prospect who couldn’t care less about
you, who has no intention of buying or selling a home…either now, or
in the future.
And the fact that so many people have no interest in marketing a
property, or buying one, is what makes most prospecting so
numbingly icy. So nauseating and dreadful. So…well…disgusting and
frustrating.
See, the most painful human emotions are rejection, humiliation, and
embarrassment. They are the greatest source of our deep down,
bogeyman-type fears.
And what creates more fear, more rejection, more humiliation, more
embarrassment…than cold prospecting?
Nothing that I can think of.
And which group of prospects generates the most fear? Is it the
cold, door-knocking type or pestering a FSBO for the fourth time
that day, or the twentieth time that month?
Let’s face it, either type of rejection feels the same, regardless of
who makes us feel that way!
When you think about it, it’s kind of amazing that our industry as a
whole, as well as the so-called “marketing experts” in our companies
and associations, haven’t figured out that embarrassing, harassing,
pushy prospecting to people who don’t want to be bothered by you
is impossible to make work!
